Bio
Crytearia (Ren Rizzolo) is a hiphop & electro producer from Tasmania, Australia. He first began his explorations in music making in 2000, at the age of 15. In high school Crytearia began collecting vinyl and playing around with sampling and sequencing on his home computer. Meanwhile he developed an interest in old synthesizers and audio equipment, which lead to studying audio design at college/university. Crytearia merges samples, synths, organic recordings and hard hitting drums to create a fresh sounding platter of beats in the vein of RJD2 and DJ Shadow. Crytearia describes his music as "Avant-Dance for the headphone generation". Scattered with infectious melody and merciless composition, his songs have a story and a journey.
After years of collaboration with MC Tempest, late 2006 saw the duo playing live for the first time. Crytearia & Tempest have supported the likes of Macromantics, Curse Ov Dialect, Captain Ahab, Music Vs Physics and Bachelor of Arts. Crytearia's music has been played on Edge Radio as well as Triple J.
Over the last few years Crytearia has put his focus on creating instrumental music, and in late 2004 work began on an instrumental album titled Landscrape. With Landscrape Crytearia is found exploring the boundaries of instrumental hip-hop and electronic music. The album features colaborations with MCs Crixus, Thorts and Tempest.
In June 2006 Crytearia independently released a 7" single from Landscrape, featuring the "dance floor burner" Enuffunk and the"blunted adventure" About the Rain. This release was featured on Hobart's Edge Radio for two weeks. The full length Landscrape CD is set for release late 2008.
